CARRIE MAILLOUX
Carrie Mailloux, LMSW (she/her), is a therapist and owner of Exhale Therapy who works with adults navigating anxiety, overwhelm, burnout, and life transitions. She particularly enjoys working with people who are used to holding it all together and are starting to realize that the way they’ve been functioning isn’t working anymore.
Before becoming a therapist, Carrie built a career working in a high-pressure corporate environment at a Fortune 10 company, a lens that deeply informs her work with clients navigating stress, perfectionism, competing demands, and the pressure to keep performing even when they are running on empty.
Carrie’s approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in both the mind and body. She believes insight is important, but understanding why you do something doesn’t always change how it feels in the moment or what happens in your body when you’re stressed, overwhelmed, or stretched too thin. Her work helps clients understand their patterns while also noticing how those patterns show up physically and practicing different ways of responding when they do.
Carrie draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, somatic practices, and attachment and parts work informed approaches. With a background spanning yoga, mindfulness, and breathwork, she brings practical tools and an embodied perspective to the therapy room, adapting her approach to the needs of each client.
Her goal is to create a warm space where clients can put down the pressure to have it all figured out, understand themselves more deeply, and make changes they can actually feel in their day to day lives.
Outside of her work, Carrie enjoys gardening, hiking, stand-up paddleboarding, traveling, and camping. She sees clients in person at The Village Collective in Richmond on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and virtually throughout Vermont.
